Practical information

This page contains practical information to attend to summer school, such as related costs, the location, and how to get there.

Costs

Accommodation and meals for all participants is covered by the summer school. The funding for this is kindly provided by Nordic Society Oikos. Participants are expected to fund their own travel to the summer school. Note that many participants will have to share rooms, due to limited space at the venue.

Location

The summer school will take place at Basecamp Frich's Hjerkinn. Hjerkinn is a village located in the Dovrefjell-Sundalsfjella national park. Dovrefjell is known for its great hiking opportunities, vast rugged terrain, and plentiful wild life including wild reindeer, Artic foxes, and Muskox.

Travel information

Participants are responsible for arranging their own travel to the accommodation. Arrival is expected on Sunday evening, but arrival on Monday before noon is also possible. Please note that dinner on Sunday is not covered by the summer school, but breakfast on Monday is included for participants arriving on Sunday. We will do our best to facilitate an early departure (after/around lunch) on Friday the 25th of July for those who need it. The easiest way to get to Basecamp Frich's Hjerkinn is by train from Oslo or Trondheim to Hjerkinn train station. Direct trains go from both Oslo and Trondheim, but the trip is longer from Oslo (about 5h) than from Trondheim (about 2h). From the train station it is a 200m walk to the accommodation. Train tickets can be purchased from sj.no
